ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

AGE

•  Open to young musicians residing in the UAE
•  5 -18 years

CATEGORY

Participants must belong to one of the following four categories:

🎹 Piano
🎻 Bowed Strings
🎷 Woodwinds & Brass
🎙️ Voice

ACCOMPANISTS

Participants must arrange their own accompanists where required.

LEVEL

Participants will compete in one of three levels, based on ability or achievement.

ROUNDS

Participants must be available for all competition rounds.

SCHEDULE

Allocated time slot for the competition cannot be changed.

HOW TO REGISTER

Follow these steps to apply for the Young Musician of the UAE 2025 competition


STEP 1

PREPARE YOUR APPLICATION MATERIALS

• Personal Information – Full name, date of birth, contact details
• Repertoire List – Pieces you will perform in each round (with composer details)
• Copies of sheet music to upload
• Copy of EID to upload


STEP 2

COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION

• Click on the link for registration
• Fill out the form
• Upload your required materials
• Pay the application fee


STEP 3

SUBMIT BEFORE THE DEADLINE

• Application Deadline: 10th October 2025
• Confirmation email will be sent upon successful submission

FINAL ROUND

10 AM – 5 PM : 36 selected finalists will perform before a panel of judges
5 PM: 12 participants will qualify for the final round concert
7 PM: Winner Announcement & Awards Ceremony

LEVEL 2: Grades 4 – 6 ABRSM or equivalent musical ability

LEVEL 3: Grades 7 ABRSM and above or equivalent musical ability

• Backing tracks are not permitted.

REPERTOIRE GUIDELINES & RULES

Competition Guidelines

Repertoire submitted by the final closing date for Round 1, Round 2, and Finals, Round 3 will be treated as final.
No substitutions or alterations (including changes in piece, movement, or instrumentation) can be made after the closing date of the 10th October 2025. Any repertoire changes submitted after the deadline unfortunately cannot be accepted.

1. Timings

•  Qualifying Round 1:
     • Level 1: 5 minutes
     • Level 2: 5 minutes
     • Level 3: 5 minutes

•  Round 2:
     • Level 1: 5 minutes
     • Level 2: 7 minutes
     • Level 3: 10 minutes

•  Final Round 3:
     • Level 1: 5 minutes
     • Level 2: 7 minutes
     • Level 3: 10 minutes

🎹 PIANO

     Qualifying Round 1: Perform one Baroque or Classical piece.
     Round 2: Perform one Romantic or Contemporary piece plus a study of your choice.
     Final Round 3: Perform an own choice piece.
     Suggested Repertoire: 📄 List for Piano

🎻 BOWED STRINGS

     Qualifying Round 1: Perform one accompanied piece of choice.
     Round 2: Perform one unaccompanied piece or study plus an accompanied piece of your choice.
     Final Round 3: Perform an own choice piece of choice (preferably one movement of a Sonata or Concerto)
     Suggested Repertoire: 📄 List for Bowed Strings

🎷 WOODWINDS & BRASS

     Qualifying Round 1: Perform one accompanied piece.
     Round 2: Perform one unaccompanied piece or study plus an accompanied piece of your choice.
     Final Round 3: Perform an own choice piece.
     Suggested Repertoire: 📄 List for Woodwind and Brass

🎙️VOICE

     Qualifying Round 1: Perform one accompanied piece from Musical Theatre.
     Round 2: Perform two accompanied pieces from Baroque, Classical, Operatic, or Art Song styles.
     Final Round 3: Perform two varied own choice pieces.
     Suggested Repertoire: 📄 List for Voice

9: Expression & Dynamics Use of contrast and emotion

10: Overall Performance General effectiveness and memorability

11: All decisions made by the judging panel are final.

GENERAL INFORMATION

• Travel, accommodation, and personal expenses are the responsibility of the contestants.

Participants are required to adhere to the following dress code:

Rounds 1 & 2: Smart top and trousers/long skirt (below knees), no trainers or leggings permitted
Final Round: Formal Wear (black trousers or long skirt with a white shirt/ or black long dress, and formal black shoes)

* The Organisers reserve the right to deny a Participant the opportunity to perform if their attire does not meet the specified dress code.

• The Organisers reserve the right to modify rules or schedules if necessary.

• Practice rooms will be available 10 minutes before the audition time.

• By entering, participants grant permission for media and promotional use of competition materials.

• Registration fees are non-refundable.

• Specific performance times cannot be guaranteed due to scheduling constraints.

• Transport and parking details will be provided closer to the event date.

• The competition will not be live-streamed. However, photography is permitted, and an official photographer will be present.

• Winners must be available for any scheduled performances or media appearances.

• Participants must arrive at least 30 minutes before their performance time.
