Famous tracks performed to celebrate the 50th Union Day As part of the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the Union, the Global Village in Dubai hosted, on its main stage, yesterday evening, an exceptional concert for the National Youth Orchestra, with the participation of 60 male and female musicians from more than 25 nationalities, under the leadership of Maestro Munir Baqiah. The concert was marked by a rich program that included the finest classical and contemporary symphonies and instrumentals. The concert included a musical segment presented by young musicians and dazzled the audience with a set of world famous pieces, and soundtracks for the most famous international films such as “Pirates of the Caribbean” and others. A number of young musicians took turns leading the orchestra to prove their ingenuity and ability to perform amid the applause of the audience. The orchestra played the “young and youth category” brilliantly, harmoniously and mastering classical pieces by the most famous international composers, which dazzled the audience over a period of 60 minutes. Amira Fouad, artistic director of the orchestra, said: “We are pleased to participate in the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the union, in cooperation with Global Village; This collaboration provides us with an exceptional opportunity to encourage talent, support our amazing musicians, and enable us to reach a larger audience in the UAE. We seek, through our offerings, to enhance the guests’ experiences, raise their levels of happiness and joy, and contribute to bringing them together to celebrate this dear occasion.” On the sidelines of the ceremony, Maestro Mounir Baqiah expressed to “Al Khaleej” his happiness with the participation of the orchestra in the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the union and playing in front of a diverse audience such as the pioneers of the Global Village, and said: “We feel happy and proud to participate in this national occasion and celebrate it, and we are keen to present the musical pieces that suit and satisfy We have trained and prepared well to present Mozart’s music, as well as a set of masterpieces for the soundtracks of some famous international films, as well as popular tracks from Denmark and Australia.” Moments before ascending to the stage, we met the media presenter, Youssef Abdel Bari of Dubai TV, and he said: “I am proud to present this exceptional concert to the National Youth Orchestra, which includes more than 60 young people of different ages playing various musical instruments.” At the end of the ceremony, the audience witnessed the operetta “Bright Years” directed by Nasser Ibrahim and presented by the Ornina Ensemble. The epic operetta reviews the rich history of the UAE, and sheds light on contemporary prosperity, leading to the prospect of a promising future, in a scene that captivates the guests through a distinguished performance. In the scenes of the ceremony, Nasser Ibrahim told «Al-Khaleej»: “I am very happy to present the operetta within the celebrations of the fiftieth anniversary of the Union, and the operetta includes the story of the Emirates, its history and achievements in a distinctive directing style through 8 scenes over a 40-minute duration of the show, with the participation of 30 artists.” The orchestra plays in front of the audience during the concert
