The Dubai National Youth Orchestra announced that it has received an official invitation to perform at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, marking a historic achievement as the first orchestra in the UAE to receive such an official invitation.
The Dubai National Youth Orchestra also revealed that it received an invitation to perform at the United Nations Headquarters during its stay in New York, cementing its position as the region’s premier youth orchestra. The orchestra also received special invitations to visit Lincoln Center, the prestigious Metropolitan Opera House, and The Juilliard School, enriching its ensemble’s musical culture and enhancing its global experience.
The concert will be held at Carnegie Hall on June 20, 2025, under the leadership of renowned American conductor and composer, Jonathan Winter Barrett. The concert will feature collaboration with the Cultural Ambassador and Founder and President of the Emirates Musicians Association,
Emirati composer Ihab Darwish will perform one of his signature compositions for the first time in the United States, highlighting the UAE’s rich artistic heritage and cultural aspirations on the stage of one of the world’s most prestigious theaters. This invitation represents a significant achievement for the Dubai National Youth Orchestra and its promotion of the UAE’s cultural and musical landscape globally.
The Dubai National Youth Orchestra was founded in 2018 and has since grown to include six orchestras with over 200 young members aged 5 to 18 from 30 different nationalities. The orchestra was co-founded by Amira Fouad, under the baton of American conductor and composer Jonathan Winter Barrett, and supported by a leading leadership team that includes renowned violinist and co-founder Eva Grasbeck (Head of Strings), bassist Jackie Hayter (Head of Winds), cellist Clara Aswakhi (Bass String Specialist), and Ronald Vint (Head of Percussion).
This historic occasion will see more than 60 orchestra members perform at Carnegie Hall, alongside two of the most distinguished youth orchestras in the United States, from New Jersey and Los Angeles. The opportunity highlights the amazing talents of young musicians, in addition to being an exceptional opportunity to perform on one of the world’s most famous stages, and has been made possible thanks to the support of distinguished sponsors who understand the role of music in creating unforgettable memories.
In the same context, the co-founder and artistic director of the National Youth Orchestra in Dubai said:

For his part, the Emirati composer and founder and president of the Emirates Musicians Association said,
Ihab Darwish: “This invitation is a clear testament to the high musical potential of our young performers. I am honored to present one of my compositions for the first time in the United States to these talented young musicians, who will carry their dreams into Carnegie Hall to fulfill the ambitious cultural aspirations of the UAE.”
He added: “Playing at Carnegie Hall is a dream for many musicians, and so the orchestra is seeking the support of sponsors and the wider community to ensure this unique experience is available to all members of the National Youth Orchestra in Dubai.”
